Are you looking for a 6 pound lap dog to snuggle with and entertain you? Minni might be your match. Minni loves to be with her people, usually on a lap if one is available. She will snuggle in a blanket as a second choice. She is just 2 years old, so she still has that playful energy and can be very entertaining. She was raised in a household with other little dogs, cats, and children and does well with all; however she will play chase with cats for entertainment to pass the time. Minni was a loved family pet until her previous family was forced to give one of their dogs up due to being over the city limit. They chose her because she was young, giving her the best chance at finding a new family. Minni can be very timid with strangers and new dogs, especially if they are large dogs. Once she is given a few minutes to warm up, she becomes very friendly and enjoys attention and snuggles. Dedicated and loving to her family, a little suspicious and leery of strangers - this is fairly typical of the Chihuahua breed temperament. If you are interested in Minnie, please fill out an application today to be contacted by her foster family.
The Animal Rescue Project () is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed.
All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws.
Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization.
The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.
